After the grip is created, the next step is to add the hair. Horsehair is the most common type of material used for violin bows, as it has the ability to grip the string and create a vibrating sound. The horsehair is attached to the bow using special glue.
4. Adding the rosin
Rosin is a sticky substance that helps create friction between the bow and the string. It is applied to the hair of the bow, and helps the bow grip the string and create a vibrating sound. Rosin is made from tree resin, and is typically applied to the bow using a rosin cake. To apply rosin to the bow, the player first needs to heat the rosin cake. This can be done by holding it in the hand or by using a hair dryer.
Once the rosin is heated, it is then rubbed onto the hair of the bow. The player should start at the middle of the bow and work their way towards the tip.
