Singeo is the newest offering from the Musora family of music courses. The company has brought huge online courses such as Drumeo to the world, which have an incredible amount of depth and endless activities for wannabe musicians. So, how do their vocal training and online singing lessons stack up?
It’s worth noting the fact that Singeo is brand new, so it hasn’t had as much time to develop and grow as some of the other options from Musora. As you will see when we delve further into the features and functions, the course isn’t necessarily a complete option yet. The curriculum is still growing. Keep this in mind when you are considering which singing course is the one for you.
Your Tutors
One of the best things about Musora’s courses is the personal touch. You actually get to connect with your vocal coaches (or other musicians involved in their courses). In the case of Singeo this means Lisa Witt and Darcy D.
The benefit of the two tutors is that both sing at very different registers, helping people to understand more aspects of technique, and to listen to both higher and lower pitches of singing.
Darcy is the lower register singer. He’s worked in the music industry for over 30 years and has been teaching singing for decades. He even has gold record success which he achieved performing with “Prism”.
Lisa Witt is the lead voice. She takes front of stage when it comes to teaching most of the lessons on the course and she is fantastic at both classical music training and more contemporary or “pop” singing. Lisa is a fantastic character and her charisma is one of the reasons so many people keep going.
The tutors both do a great job of helping the course participants find their own voice, encouraging people to work out their own strengths and unique style as they delve into their voice lessons.
Singeo, like the other Musora courses, has the benefit of allowing you to actually connect with your vocal coach, like you would be able to in private lessons.
If you recognize Lisa, the head voice coach, it could be because she also teaches on Pianote, the piano-teaching app from the same company which has been running since 2016.
Price
Before delving into the features, let’s have a look at the price.
It’s fairly reasonable and flexible, but when you consider the fact that the course isn’t necessarily “finished” then it is only fair that the makers aren’t charging huge prices for it yet.
Your current choices are to pay for the annual membership at $127, or pay monthly for $12 per month, which is really very reasonable for how much learning material you actually get. The online course also has a 90-day money-back guarantee, so if you pay for a yearly membership and for any reason you aren’t totally satisfied, you can get your money back.
Payment is easy, and you can use most card methods or PayPal if you prefer.

Curriculum
Let’s look at the curriculum that builds those voice skills. The online course is made up of 10 different levels or “stages” of singing lessons, but at the moment there are only five of these live.
The rest are due for release between now and April.
It’s definitely worth looking at Drumeo and the other courses run by Musora if you are worried about this. Those courses started with less materials and have gradually grown and snowballed into huge learning resources, so there’s not really any need to worry about whether Singeo is going to stay “bare bones” in the future.
The curriculum includes:
Level 1: Understanding Your Voice
This is a great set of lessons that can help you to understand what sort of voice you have and where it sits in the register. You need to understand your vocal range before you try to build your skills. The videos range from about 5-10 minutes each, and as well as discovering your voice it also covers things like the shape of your mouth while you’re singing and how the vocal cords actually work. It builds a solid foundation for your vocal technique.
Level 2: Build Strength & Gain Control
You’ve built that foundational knowledge of how a voice works, but now you can start to develop your own voice. This level is all about getting your habits right and exercising your specific vocal style and voice type.
In level two you’re really starting to delve into vocal styles and get the routines right to build up your voice. It’s crucial that you take the time to work out your vocal type as this forms such a huge part of how you will learn from the course.
Level 3: Vowel Shapes & Sounds
These are some of the voice essentials. Vowels are described as one of the “secrets” to making huge changes to your voice pretty much straight away. This level is all about getting the mouth shapes and vowel sounds perfected and immediately applying them to all of your favorite songs.
It’s amazing how much power is in the vowels!
Level 4: Building a Proper Song List
It’s time to build out your repertoire and fully understand which types of songs suit your vocal technique.
Building the song list is all about matching up songs that fit your voice and that you can use to start performing. This level also has a focus on practice techniques and how to start to put together a performance. There’s a real spotlight on confidence here. If you are going to get to the point where you can sing in front of others, you are going to need to be confident.
Level 5: Vocal Styles & Sounds
This is where you get to the point of understanding the nuance of technique. “Vibrato, Falsetto, Belting, Vocal Fry – What do they mean and which one are you? Tip: You can be all of them!”
This level allows you to work on these specific techniques to build your sound and express yourself more during performances, with videos on how to use those stylish effects like vibrato to give extra dynamics to your singing.
Level 6: Getting Fancy – Riffs and Runs
This is all about running through the scales and getting to the point where you can sing much more “fancy” riffs to wow those who are hearing you perform. Vocal runs are a chance to flex your muscles as a singer and in some genres of music, they are crucial to the performance.
Level 7: Music Theory For Singers
As a singer, you can sometimes get away with not learning too much music theory, but we definitely think it is a good idea to build this knowledge somewhat and the Singeo course gives you a level on this to make it easier to understand how music works and communicate much better with musicians.
Level 8: Ear Training & Note Recognition
This is all about being able to analyze melodies and even start to use scales to come up with your own melodies or improvise through a song. Ear training can help you to get to the next level of knowledge, and move beyond being a “casual” singer into more professional realms.
Level 9: Harmony & Singing With Others
This is particularly useful if you are singing as part of a group, but it can also help if you want to learn how to record your voice and create layers and harmonies. We recommend going through this level regardless of whether you’re a solo singer or you want to focus on group singing.
Level 10: Into The Spotlight, Onto The Stage
Where can your singing take you? In this section you can focus on the paths you can take with your new singing skills, and where you can go next to start to develop skills in certain styles and genres. It’s all about the confidence to perform, but also for the next steps in the journey. You never truly stop learning as a singer.
Songs
Once you’ve used the curriculum to build your skills then you have the option to delve into the huge library of songs and enjoy specific lessons to learn how to sing the tunes you love most.
There are over 100 songs, and more get added every single month. The songs have the vocal tracks removed so you can sing along, and there are even two different key options for each song so that you can adjust the music to suit your own vocal range. No more straining to try and sing in a key you really aren’t comfortable with.
Knowing what the Musora family of apps are like, you’ll be able to enjoy lots of songs continually being added. The benefit of opting for a specialist in making online music courses like Musora is that they know how to make engaging courses and lessons.
If you need an example, just look at how much the Drumeo course has grown in recent years. While the video lessons in the Singeo course aren’t as advanced yet, the vocal training is still good enough to bring you to a foundational level and undoubtedly the course itself will continue to grow.
Singeo YouTube Channel – Check If The Style Suits You
Singeo’s YouTube channel is a good resource whether you are signed up for their course or not.
One of the benefits of having this kind of resource in place is that you can use it as a sort of “trial run” and see if the teaching style suits you before you get started. We definitely recommend diving in and having a little go at some of the lessons and activities in the YouTube videos to see if you get on with the Singeo style.
Singeo’s YouTube videos don’t totally give the game away. In fact, most of them are pretty short and simple and just provide you with a quick overview of a topic. You’re not going to learn how to be a top-class singer just by watching the videos on YouTube, but they are a decent starting point.

The Singeo Community
One of the biggest strengths of Singeo is the community around the online course.
The creators of the singing lessons have done a very good job of creating what feels like a really safe community for people to share their own efforts and get feedback via the forum. The “Student Progress” area of the forum is a great space to share your own recordings and what you have been up to, and encourage others. On top of that, there are regular opportunities to actually engage with those running the course.
The Singeo community also has a weekly live session, which comes included with your membership so there are no added extra costs. This also includes a Q and A session so you can ask your own specific questions. This feels a little bit more like the sort of feedback you’d get having private lessons. Normally, all of the queries and questions are answered.
If you miss the Q and A session then they normally upload the recording afterward, so this all adds to the huge amount of resources.
You can also enjoy the “Student Review” sessions where you can upload a video or audio file of singing and get feedback from the tutors.
Members tend to be really active, and all have the attitude of supporting each other, which is one of the biggest benefits of this kind of course.

- The course is still getting up to size and shape. It will continue to grow, and lots more content is planned, but it isn’t the complete deal as of yet.
